RELEASE OF "THE COSMOS ROCKS" ALBUM FROM QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS

The latest information about the release of "The Cosmos Rocks" album from Queen + Paul Rodgers - this is coming to EU and the UK Monday 15 September 2008 and to the US and Canada on Tuesday 14 October 2008.

Look out for the first plays of the new Queen + Paul Rodgers single on UK Radio as of next week.
- Radio 2: Ken Bruce Show next Monday 4 August between 9.30am-noon. The track will then hopefully get more airs before going into playlist the following week.
- Virgin Radio: The track will be played from noon onwards that day (Monday 4th August).

You can currently log onto the album club www.queenonline.com and are invited there to "check out premier track ‘Say Its Not True’" (released as a physical single 31 December 2007).

VH1 REPORT - CONGRESS RECOGNIZES PAUL RODGERS’ CONTRIBUTIONS

Even though he’s spent 40 years making music, Paul Rodgers always takes time to help his community out.  Most recently, the Bad Company vocalist worked with The Fender Center’s Kids Rock Free music education program in California.  Through his efforts, the singer helped raise over $200,000 for the program and for his work, he was honored by Congress.  Over the weekend, before a sold-out benefit concert that celebrated the 10th anniversary of The Fender Center, a Congressman presented Rodgers with a proclamation that recognized his philanthropy.  A grateful Paul stated, “Music is the great connector.  It connects us to our emotions and to each other.  Thanks to the U-S Congress for recognizing the value of music.”  Next up for Rodgers is a performance with Queen at the celebration of Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday at London’s Hyde Park on June 27th.

The music and pop culture network is the exclusive U.S. outlet televising “The 46664 Concert Honouring Nelson Mandela at 90” taking place in London’s Hyde Park on Friday, June 27.  The concert will also be streamed live on VH1.com that day.  Artists already committed to perform include Amy Winehouse, Leona Lewis, Queen + Paul Rodgers, Annie Lennox, The Sugababes, Simple Minds, Dame Shirley Bassey, Andrea and Sharon Corr, Jerry Dammers and Razorlight will take the stage to honor Nelson Mandela.  Many other world-renowned artists and performers will also be performing. 
Hosted by multi-talented actor/rapper Will Smith, VH1’s coverage of The 46664 Concert will stream live on VH1.com (at VH1.com) on Friday, June 27 at 1 PM EST.  A  2-hour special of concert highlights will premiere on VH1 on Monday, June 30th at 9 p.m. EST/PST.  The event will also be simulcast on VH1 Classic, VH1 Soul and MHD, MTV Networks’ music high-definition channel.  In addition to being a monumental birthday celebration, the event also serves as a response to the global HIV/AIDS epidemic designed to invite the whole world to take a stance on this worldwide health issue.
The concert name refers to Nelson Mandela’s prison number (46664 - pronounced four, double six, six, four) when he spent 18 years of his 27 years in prison on Robben Island off the coast of Cape Town in South Africa. 
Oprah Winfrey, former President Bill Clinton, Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Robert De Niro, Forest Whitaker are among those who will attend some of the events surrounding the three-day celebration in London which culminates in the evening concert.  
South African and African artists Johnny Clegg, Sipho Mabuse, Loyiso, the Soweto Gospel Choir, Papa Wemba, Sudanese ‘war child’ rapper Emmanuel Jal, and AIDS orphan choir: The Children of Agape will also join in the celebration.
The concert proceeds will benefit Nelson Mandela’s HIV/AIDS charity 46664 that he founded in 2002.  “I am supposed to be retired but my friends and the charitable organizations that bear my name want to use my 90th birthday year to raise funds to continue our work and so of course I want to help them,” said Nelson Mandela.
“Nelson Mandela epitomizes strength and courage around the world.   He has come to symbolize hope, working tirelessly through his 46664 organization to raise awareness about the impact of AIDS, especially in Africa, and promote HIV prevention measures globally,” said Tom Calderone, VH1’s Executive Vice President, General Manager.  “We at VH1 have a long history of proactively engaging our viewers in the fight against HIV/AIDS.  We are proud to be a part of this momentous occasion and are eager to share the celebration with music fans across the U.S.”

UNITED STATES CONGRESS PRESENTS PAUL RODGERS WITH A PROCLAMATION, FOR HIS WORK WITH “KIDS ROCK FREE” MUSIC EDUCATION PROGRAM IN CALIFORNIA

Singer/songwriter Paul Rodgers who blasted onto the music scene with the hit "All Right Now" celebrates his 40th year as a recording artist. Rodgers was recently recognized by US Congress for his musical achievements and his philanthropist work with The Fender Center's "Kids Rock Free" Music Education Program in California. Through his efforts, Rodgers has helped raise over $200,000 for the program. The Proclamation was given by member of Congress Ken Calvet and presented to Rodgers, only the 8th person to receive such an honor, by Fender Center board member Jeff Bennett, Saturday, June 14th before a sold-out benefit concert in Corona to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the center. "Music is the great connector,” said Rodgers. “It connects us to our emotions and to each other. Thanks to the U.S. Congress for recognizing the value of music."

Currently, Rodgers is in the UK with Queen readying to perform at the celebration of Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday at London’s Hyde Park on June 27. Rodgers first met Mandela, performing at a South African 46664 concert in 2005 and is proud to continue to support the man and his organization, raising awareness about the impact of AIDS and promotes HIV prevention. "When you consider all of the indignities and injustices that have challenged Nelson Mandela, it's a miracle and a real testament to his fortitude and courage that he can still shine the light of peace. CANADA'S NATURAL HEALTH PRODUCTS ARE UNDER THREAT...READ WHAT YOU CAN DO TO HELP

NATURAL HEALTH PRODUCTS ARE UNDER IMMEDIATE THREAT
Many Canadians rely upon natural health products for their health.  These products are endangered and consumers need to act now to save them.  Since 2004 when the Natural Health Product Regulations were introduced, natural health products have been increasingly threatened.  The new Regulations were Health Canada’s response to consumer demands for the government to protect their access to natural health products.  The Regulations have had the opposite effect.  To “legally” sell a health product the new Regulations impose a licensing requirement.  The problem is that 60% of licence applications have failed.  These have been the “easy” applications.  Expectations are that 70-75% of applications will fail.  For the NHP Community this means that 75% of NHP’s we rely upon for our health will become illegal.

This creates the following scenario:

• 75% of natural health products will become illegal;
• Illegal products must be voluntarily removed or be subject to Health Canada enforcement;
• Health Canada has publicly announced it is hiring more enforcement officers and is holding recruitment meetings at universities;
• Bill C-51 gives Health Canada unprecedented enforcement tools to force natural health products off of the market.

 Bill C-51 reads like a Police State Manual

There has never been a death in Canada caused by a natural health product.  Considering that there are multiple deaths every year by common foods such as peanuts and shellfish, it is clear that natural health products are extremely safe.  When you consider the health benefits of natural health products are extremely safe.   It becomes clear that the real danger in regulating them is to “over-regulate” them off of the market.

Bill C-51 gives Health Canada unprecedented power to take natural health products away from us.

URGENT CALL TO ACTION

Bill C-51 was introduced into the House of Commons on April 8, 2008.  The Bill is not yet law, but will become law unless Canadians act quickly.  It is essential that you let key Members of Parliament know that:

• You are opposed to the police state powers in Bill C-51;
• You want them to vote against Bill C-51;
• You want your access to natural health products protected.

Many of the world’s most powerful and instantly recognisable figures and a concert audience of 46,664 will pay their tributes to one of the world’s most loved leaders, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and icon of freedom, Nelson ‘Madiba’ Mandela, as he turns 90
later this year.
Mr. Mandela will arrive in London in June to take part in a series of events to mark his birthday: a very rare occasion since he is now finally “retired from retirement.”
Royalty and politicians from both sides of the Atlantic, leading names from business, sport, film and entertainment – and some of the most successful musicians of the past twenty years – make up the birthday list for three days of celebrations, culminating in a
three-hour evening concert in London’s Hyde Park on Friday June 27, The 46664 Concert Honouring Nelson Mandela at 90.
President Bill Clinton, Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Will Smith, Ms. Oprah Winfrey, Robert de Niro and Forest Whitaker are amongst those who will attend some of the events. Lewis Hamilton, British Formula 1 driver for the Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 team will attend his very first 46664 event.
Artists specially invited to perform for Mr. Mandela at the Friday night 90th birthday concert will include Queen + Paul Rodgers, Annie Lennox, Simple Minds, Leona Lewis, the Sugababes, Dame Shirley Bassey, Razorlight, Andrea and Sharon Corr, Eddy Grant, and Jamelia, along with international 46664 Ambassadors Italy’s Zucchero and Spain’s Amaral.

Joining them to celebrate the life of the world’s most respected statesman will be South African and African artists including Johnny Clegg, Sipho Mabuse, multi-South African Music Awards winner Loyiso, Kurt Darren, the Soweto Gospel Choir, Aids orphan choir The Children of Agape – the subject of the award winning film feature ‘We Are Together’, the legendary Papa Wemba and Sudanese ‘war child’ rapper Emmanuel Jal.
The concert will feature numerous unexpected appearances, with several major artists keeping silent about their involvement in order to take both Mr Mandela and the audience by surprise.
Among the specially chosen artists are many whom Nelson Mandela is recognising for having voiced their support for him over the past 20 years, dating back to London’s historic Free Mandela concert of June 1988, which called for Mr. Mandela’s release from incarceration on Robben Island and which Mr Mandela has said gave him and his fellow prisoners great inspiration. Simple Minds were instrumental in making the 1988 event happen. Annie Lennox appeared with The Eurythmics and has since become of one of the most active ambassadors for Mr. Mandela’s 46664 AIDS organisation.
Lennox, along with Dave Stewart and Queen’s Brian May and Roger Taylor played a key part in the foundation of 46664 in October 2003. Since then, Queen and Paul Rodgers have gone on to write songs especially for the organisation, including the track Say It’s Not True from their forthcoming album which the band donated to 46664 for World AIDS Day 2007. With the Corrs, Sharon and Andrea Corr appeared at the inaugural Cape Town concert and together and separately have since participated in further concerts for Mr. Mandela’s 46664 charitable organisation. Zucchero has been another stalwart supporter, appearing in the first concert as well as two further concerts.
Rounding out the twenty years since the Free Mandela event in 1988, the concert will also feature top artists of today including worldwide No.1 artist Leona Lewis and Britain’s most successful female group, the Sugababes.
Fundraising events as part of the celebrations will benefit the charitable organisations established by Mr. Mandela: the Nelson Mandela Foundation, the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund and the Mandela Rhodes Foundation, which through their work have sought to bring about change and make a difference to lives in South Africa, Africa and elsewhere over the past 14 years. The concert proceeds will go to the 46664 campaign which raises awareness about the impact of AIDS, especially in Africa, and promotes effective HIV prevention measures throughout the world.
Mr. Mandela said at the announcement of the concert: “You all know that I am supposed to be retired but my friends and the charitable organisations that bear my name want to use my 90th birthday year to raise funds to continue our work and so of course I want to help them. So, we have a bargain – I am going to London and they will host a concert in Hyde Park, which will raise awareness of our continuing work and much needed funds.”
As his final public engagement on his visit to the UK, Mr. Mandela’s appearance at the concert is sure to be emotional. In stepping down from his campaign work he will use the concert to deliver his message presented in the current 46664 campaign “It’s in our hands”, that he is handing over the 46664 mantle to each of us to carry forward on his behalf.
The concert has been made possible through the generosity of the private sector to honour Mr. Mandela’s 90th birthday. Mercedes-Benz, Zain and Investec lead the companies who have rallied to support the concert. Others including with British Airways, Samsung, Intercontinental Hotels, The Westbury and Live Nation have also assisted. A special mention also for The Royal Parks who have allowed the concert to take place the night before Hard Rock Calling and who have agreed the sale of a significantly numbered 46,664 tickets for the concert.

Queen + Paul Rodgers Rock Again with 2008 Concert Tour

Playing the UK, Northern Eurasia, Central, Southern and Eastern Europe
With highly anticipated return to Latin America expected to follow.
Tour heralds in first new Queen studio album in 13 Years

With a new album in the pipeline - the first new studio album to carry the Queen name since the Freddie Mercury sessions – Queen is heading back on the road for a four-month tour, once again in the company of musician/singer/songwriter Paul Rodgers who joined forces with Brian May and Roger Taylor for the highly successful 2005/2006 world tour, the European leg of which ended with the band’s spectacular London Hyde Park open air concert before going on to play the US and Japan.

In all, the band’s tour was attended by more than a million people.

Together May, Taylor and Rodgers have recorded their first album’s worth of material, jointly written and produced. With the title yet to be disclosed, the album is being readied for release September 1, two weeks ahead of the start of the tour.

The Queen + Paul Rodgers 28-date arena tour will take in 14 countries in just seven weeks, and take the band to Northern Eurasia, Central and Southern Europe, and the UK, and is expected to wind up at the end of the year with the band’s highly anticipated return to South America, the setting of some of its most historic tours in the early 80’s.

Queen’s historic Latin America dates set new world records for the numbers of the audiences it attracted. At the 1985 Rock in Rio concert the band played to an unheard of audience of 300,000 and was watched on television by nearly 200 million people throughout the South American continent.

The 2008 tour kicks off mid-September in Russia with two dates at Moscow’s SCO Olympic Arena, moves on into Poland for a massive free concert at the historic Gdansk Shipyard, and then follows a path through Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland and the Netherlands before arriving in the UK early October for 6 dates including London’s 02 Arena on October 13. 

The UK dates see the band additionally play Nottingham, Glasgow, Cardiff and Birmingham with a final UK date at Liverpool Arena on October 18 before continuing on to Spain, Hungary, Serbia, Czech Republic and Austria for seven further dates.

Tracks on the new Queen + Paul Rodgers album are all newly written by May, Taylor and Rodgers during the late 2007/ early 2008 recording sessions. ‘Say It’s Not True’, previously  released  at the end of last year by Queen + Paul Rodgers as a special World Aids Day download for Nelson Mandela’s 46664 HIV AIDS charity will be included, plus a ‘first’ for a Queen album – a cover version.

One of these tracks, C-lebrity, will receive a sneak preview when the band make a by-demand return to the UK’s ITV Al Murray’s Happy Hour for the final show on April 4.

Queen’s last studio album release was “Made In Heaven” released in November 1995 containing the last recordings with Freddie. The album became the band’s biggest selling studio album, with world sales in excess of 20 million. 

Queen’s “Greatest Hits 1” album has achieved the distinction of being the UK’s biggest selling album of all time, having sold a staggering 5,407,587 copies in Britain alone (source: VH1/The Official UK Charts Company. November 2006).
Paul Rodgers is and has been one of the most sought after and recognizable vocalists in rock music. Celebrating his 40th anniversary as a recording artist, Rodgers is known for his work as a founding member of bands Free, Bad Company, The Firm and as a Grammy nominated solo artist. He has written, produced and recorded some of radios biggest hits including “All Right Now,” “Feel Like Making Love,” and “Radioactive.” Rodgers’ latest CD/DVD release, “Live in Glasgow,” charted internationally and was recently certified Gold.

Between them, Queen and Paul Rodgers have released more than 50 albums during their long careers and sold in excess of a staggering 300 million records.

WCSX RADIOTHON RAISES $78,000 + FOR KIDS

Detroits WCSX D.J's JJ & Lynne raised $78,000 + for children suffering with leukemia in their annual radiothon.  Paul appeared for the final hour playing 5 songs acoustically, new song "War Boys" (A Prayer for Peace), "Take Love", "Loving You" plus hits "Feel Like Making Love" and "Seagull".

Thanks to Kelowna radio station Sun FM for the use of their ISDN line that allowed Paul to link up with Detroit.

The Fender Center Museum in Corona, CA will unveil the new Paul Rodgers exhibit on Saturday, February 9th. The special VIP exhibit opening will feature an auction of rock memorabilia, a night of music and the guest of honor himself, Paul Rodgers. In addition, those  in attendance will be able to enjoy other exhibits showcasing memorabilia from  Johnny Cash and Steve Miller. There are only 150 tickets available for this exclusive evening, priced at $100 per  person, with all proceeds going to benefit the Fender Center.

QUEEN + PAUL RODGERS ANNOUNCE NEWLY RECORDED
FREE DOWNLOAD FOR NELSON MANDELA’S 46664 ON WORLD AIDS DAY

It has not been that closely a guarded secret that rock legends Queen and Paul Rodgers  have been in the recording studio for their first sessions together following their successful world tour of 2005/2006. Indeed, both singer/songwriter and founding member of Free/Bad Company Paul Rodgers and Brian May have been quoted on their websites as being "quietly excited" about the music that has been produced from this creative union.

Spurred on by their commitments as Ambassadors to Nelson Mandela’s 46664 HIV AIDS global campaign, on which the spotlight will fall December 1 with a World Aids Day awareness and fundraising concert  in Johannesburg, South Africa,  Brian May, Roger Taylor and Paul Rodgers are rushing to finish a track specially written for 46664 by Roger Taylor and have it available as a free download in time for this coming Saturday’s AIDS HIV benefit concert.

The track, Taylor’s “Say It’s Not True”, originally came to light for the launch of the 46664 campaign back in November 2003.   Taylor wrote the song as a gift to Mandela and performed it live for him for the first time with Brian May and Dave Stewart at the inaugural 46664 concert in Cape Town that month.  The song carries the message that HIV AIDS is something that can affect any one of us no matter our sexual or racial status.

Taylor performed an acoustic version of the song again nightly during the Queen + Paul Rodgers’ 2005 tour, each time dedicating it to Mandela’s work to bring people and politicians together to fight HIV AIDS.

Having played two previous 46664 concerts, but committed in the studio this year, Queen and Paul Rodgers decided to revisit the song, with all three of them sharing the  vocals, and to make the song the band’s message of support to Mandela this year.

“By making the song available for free”, says Taylor, “we hope to help Nelson  Mandela with his campaign to get across the message that no-one is safe from infection.  We have to be aware, we have to protect ourselves and those we love.  The song follows the line of Mr. Mandela’s personal message:  it’s in our own hands to bring a stop to this.”

Queen’s last new studio recording was back in November 1997 when May, Taylor and band’s bassist John Deacon reunited to record “No-One But You” a song written by Brian May which was shaped by the early loss of the late Freddie Mercury to AIDS. The song was the last new work to be released by the band, issued as a single in January 1998.

ZEPPELIN CONCERT ADDS PAUL RODGERS

Paul Rodgers, singer, songwriter, multi instrumentalist and a founding member of Free, Bad Company and The Firm will be performing on the bill December 10 at London's O2 Arena in honour of the late Ahmet Ertegun.

One of the most eagerly awaited concerts of the decade, it will be a celebration of  the life and work of Ahmet Ertegun, founder of Atlantic Records and much missed mentor to some of the greatest names in music.

Paul Rodgers signed to Ertegun’s Atlantic Records with Bad Company and The Firm (along with band mate and gig headliner, Jimmy Page).

Rodgers was close to Ertegun and saw him as much more than just a record label boss:

"Ahmet had many gifts. His soulful freedom to love and lift others was just one. Now even in his passing he is still bringing people together and inspiring us."

With a #1 Charted Debut Solo DVD "Live in Glasgow" on the Nielson Soundscan charts, Rodgers is currently writing and recording a new Queen + Paul Rodgers CD in England.

Paul Marries....

The Soul of Rock Paul Rodgers married former Miss Canada, Exercise Physiologist and Artist Cynthia Kereluk in a surprise outdoor wedding ceremony on their 10th anniversary. The guests were invited to a garden party at their country home and were informed that the entertainment would begin at 7 pm - at which time it was announced by Paul that the guests were actually attending their wedding. So, under a rising moonlit sky of shooting stars, in Canada's Okanagan Valley, Rodgers and Kereluk exchanged vows before 70 of their closest friends and family. The most humorous moment occurred when Cynthia was asked do you take this man to be your husband and she responded with, "Absolutely!" and then added, "I do."

Photocharity Presents Concert of Hope Honoring BB King to End Youth Homelessness

Photocharity has organized the Concert of Hope honoring BB King on October 12, 2007 at SDSU's Open Air Theatre, which is also dubbed "The Concert to End Youth Homelessness." BB King, a dedicated Photocharity Music Angel for many years now, will also perform at the event, held in his honor.

Paul Rodgers, George Thorogood, Taj Mahal, Blind Boys of Alabama and other national acts, will be performing in the concert. All funds raised will go toward launching a program that aids homeless 18 to 24 year olds.

Many of BB King's friends and colleagues will have an opportunity to share kind words commemorating his achievements in both music and philanthropy, while the children from The Storefront, a program of San Diego Youth and Community Services and the only emergency homeless shelter in San Diego for teens ages 12-17, will give a short musical performance to show their gratitude for all that he has done for them.

OCREGISTER Review: Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger delivered moments of magic, but the Bad Company/Free vocalist lived up to top billing with a crowd-pleaser.

One of the greatest bands of all time, the Doors left behind recordings that are a collective part of rock 'n' roll consciousness. Fans are not only deeply familiar with the melodies sung by the late Jim Morrison, they even know the extended keyboard solos crafted by Ray Manzarek and the flamenco-tinged fretwork immortalized by Robby Krieger.

Since Morrison's death in 1971, the Doors' music has had a lasting impact with audiences, rare and previously unavailable recordings still seeping into the marketplace (the latest from the band is Rhino Records' impressive two-disc "Live in Boston 1970," released just last month).

Further keeping the flame alive is Riders on the Storm, a tribute of sorts featuring Manzarek, Krieger and one-time Fuel singer Brett Scallions. (The Cult's frontman Ian Astbury was on board when this revivalist concept emerged as the Doors of the 21 {+s}{+t}Century earlier this decade.)

How carefully these Riders recreate the Doors experience in the '00s – as it attempted to do for nearly an hour Sunday night at Pacific Amphitheatre – likely may be a matter of debate, but Scallions is clearly a kindred spirit of the late Morrison. His thin frame, black attire and fluid stage movements helped bring plenty of energy to this performance.

His routine eventually faltered because his own voice failed as a substitute for Morrison's deep and resonant baritone. But the good news for Doors fans was that both Manzarek and Krieger were in excellent form, replicating and improvising around timeless riffs and melodies from "Break on Through," "Light My Fire" and "L.A. Woman" (the latter two both clocked in at around 10 minutes apiece).

But headliner Paul Rodgers was clearly the winner this night. Back to his solo ways after a well-received tour fronting Queen – and backed by a strong four-man band, with kudos to the dual guitar attack of Howard Leese and Kurtis Dengler – Rodgers performed his best-known hits from both Bad Company and Free during an 80-minute performance.

Long recognized as one of rock's greatest vocalists, Rodgers proved it again and again here with pitch-perfect renditions of "Rock and Roll Fantasy" and even more challenging fare, such as "Can't Get Enough," "Feel Like Makin' Love" and "Saving Grace." His set only gained momentum as the night wore on, and his vocal firepower was up to the challenge, leading the crowd through sing-alongs during "Shooting Star," "All Right Now" and "Bad Company."

But Rodgers really sealed the deal with an amazing vocal display during a cover of the Jimi Hendrix classic "Little Wing," bringing both heartfelt emotion and dynamics to the piece.

Canadian singer-guitarist Pat Travers opened the night with a pleasing set of hard-rocking blues. Though most known for his cover of Stan Lewis' "Boom Boom (Out Go the Lights)," that audience favorite was outdistanced by newer material such as "Crash and Burn" and "I Don't Care."

Another 5 Encores for Rodgers

Tacoma, Washington Saturday night May 5. A SOLD OUT crowd applauded Rodgers and his band back to the stage for encore after encore after encore that started with "Saving Grace" "All Right Now" then Rodgers played "Seagull" solo, followed by "Ready For Love" "Simple Man" and "Standing Around Crying".It seemed that the battle of the fans was on and they did not want to be out done by fans in Milwaukee who clapped, stomped and cheered for 5 encores themselves when Rodgers played there in April.

A RECORD 5 ENCORES FOR RODGERS

Milwaukee Wednesday, April 18.  After a long set that included new songs and his hits, the sold out crowd at the Potawatomi Casino,  a venue where Aretha Franklin & BB King had  recently performed,  could not get enough.  So Rodgers and his band played on for 5 encores that included "Saving Grace", All Right Now", "Seagull" featuring just Rodgers, slow blues standard "Standing Around Crying", "Simple Man", finishing off the night off with "Ready For Love". It seemed  that  neither the enthusiastic crowd or the engaging Rodgers wanted the evening to end.

Tuesday April 17, New York City: Ahmet Ertegun, the founder of Atlantic Records and the man who introduced R&B to the masses was honored with a celebration of his life at the Rose Theatre.

In attendence Mick Jagger, Led Zepplin's Jimmy Page, Robert Plant,  John Paul Jones, Paul Rodgers, Eric Clapton, Phil Collins & Gensis, Crosby, Stills, Nash, Neil Young, Sam Moore, Bette Midler, Stevie Nicks, Kid Rock, Jazz trumperier Wynton Marsalis, Henry Kissinger, Designer Ocasr de la Renta and others.

The after party at Central Park's Boat House featured Late Night T. V.'s Paul Schaffer and his band. It added to the excitement when Paul Rodgers, Kid Rock, Graham Nash, Bluesman Soloman Burke and others performed.

RODGERS TO RELEASE HIS FIRST SOLO DVD ON EAGLE ROCK in the Spring of 2007

Paul Rodgers will release his first solo dvd in the spring of 2007 on the Eagle Rock label. The DVD was shot in Glasgow, Scotland October 13 at the Clyde Auditorium. The sold out concert was the last in a series of 8 sold out UK concert dates. The band on the DVD includes guitarists Howard Leese and 17 year old Kurtis Dengler, bassist Lynn Sorensen and Ryan Hoyle from "Collective Soul" on drums. A release date will be announced.

Deborah Bonham and her band were the Special Guests on Paul Rodgers UK Tour for the first six dates. On the last night before a sold out crowd in Nottingham Rodgers invited Deborah up to sing "Can't Get Enough". He chose this song because it was the first song that Deborah remembers hearing Paul sing when she was just 12. "Deborah has the same sweetness of spirit that he brother John possessed plus she's a fantastic singer who like her brother has great rhythm". Paul Rodgers. Not many realize this but John Bonham was also a good singer and did sing backing vocals on a number of Led Zeppelin's songs.

Paul & Gary Moore

October 3 at  The Royal Albert Hall in London, Paul and Blues Legend Guitarist Gary Moore were seen trading scorching riffs.  Also in the Sold Out audience were friends Jimmy Page, Brian May & Roger Taylor.  Gary took the high energy level to higher heights.

Paul was asked to judge a "Battle of the Bands" contest in England but was unable to. So, instead he invited the 3 Top Bands as Guest's to his Royal Albert Hall show in London. This is Dy-Star the band that finished 1st meeting Paul backstage after his concert.

Oklahoma City, Friday August 25

Paul Rodgers is taking a break from his role as the vocalist with Queen + Paul Rodgers and playing select solo dates across  America and Europe.  Rodgers seems to have a hunger to play his music to his audience.  The Queen gig was a huge  success and Paul did play some of his classics while touring the globe with Brian May and Roger Taylor but now he is taking some time for himself and treating music fans to songs from his solo career as well as classic tracks from Free, Bad Company and The Firm. 

Watching Williams switch from acoustic to electric guitar during the song is always a treat.  The big man continues to show that he is one of the most underappreciated and underrated guitar players in the history of rock music.  The band tends to get remembered for their handful of pop hits, which is just not fair.  Kansas music is complex and features many tempo changes as well as different shades of light and darkness.  The band also refuses to totally rest on their laurels and just play the hits.  "Sparks of the Tempest" was featured in the set as well as "Black Fathom 4" with a section of "Crossfire" included.  Of course, Kansas plays the songs they have to play although they hold them for the end of the set, leaving plenty of time to impress the audience with their musical prowess.   "Portrait (He Knew)," "Point of Know Return," "Dust in the Wind" and "Carry On Wayward Son" were the last four songs played.  Missing from the set was "Hold On" and "Child of Innocence" but there is only so much time in this slot.  Of note is the haircut of drummer Phil Ehart;  seeing Phil with short locks was a shock.  Phil, like Williams, is an amazing musician.  Focusing in on his drumming brings Kansas music to another level.  He intuitively understands what the music needs and delivers every time.  In the end, the band played well, sounded great and were fun to watch.  Perhaps one day we will actually get some new music out of the band but until then we will continue to enjoy what they have to offer every time they come to town. 

Rodgers was having fun and so were all those who made it out on the muggy August night.  Paul's solo band are a force to be reckoned with as well.  The most notable name other than Paul's in the band belongs to Howard Leese from Heart fame in the 1970's.  Leese gets the pleasure of replicating guitar solos from three of England's most famous axe-masters; Paul Kossoff from Free, Mick Ralphs from Bad Co and Jimmy Page from The Firm.   Rodgers and Leese also played a new tune that was well received.  In fact, Paul announced that this was the first time the song had ever been performed in front of a live audience.  The song featured Rodgers on lead vocals and acoustic guitar and Leese on mandolin.  The track, whose working title is "Far Distant Shores,"  is a step outside the box for what fans of Bad Company and Free are used to. However, it is a bold and emotional piece of music and fit in with the rest of the set.  The calming effect it had on the crowd was not due to people going on a beer or potty run but instead due to being taken in by the feel of the song and lyrics.  This would be akin to what Led Zeppelin did on their monstrous Led Zeppelin III release back in the early 1970's.  In other words, it is still Paul Rodgers but it is a side of him that has not often been shown -- but should be.  

The band pulled out two classic hits from The Firm in "Radio Active" and "Satisfaction Guaranteed."  "Rock n' Roll Fantasy" ended the main set and included two sections of Beatles songs.  One was "Ticket to Ride" and the other was "I Feel Fine."  The encore brought one of the best musical moments of the evening as Paul wowed the audience with an amazing rendition of Jimi Hendrix's "Angel."  Paul's voice truly took the song to the heavens where I am sure the master was smiling down.
